A Guide for Journalists and Other Media Professionals
Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence has developed a guide for journalists covering domestic violence. This guide includes: domestic violence statistics; an overview of domestic violence laws; tips for covering domestic violence crimes in the most complete and accurate way possible; and resource information that can be incorporated into coverage. The guide is written for journalists, but can be utilized by domestic violence advocates to support their work with local media. We encourage advocates to contact local reporters covering domestic violence crimes and fatalities, and share this guide with them.
