Kathleen J. Johanson, President
Kathleen joined EDVP in May 2004. Kathleen is a Senior Vice President at US Bank. She has over 20 years experience in the financial services industry, and is currently an investment banker. She has been involved with EDVP for several years as a financial supporter and currently serves on the Finance Committee and Executive Committee. Ending domestic violence and providing affordable housing are her family’s personal and professional missions.

Dave Osmer, 1st Vice President
Dave is the Vice President for Executive Search Services at Hagel & Company. He has served as Executive Director of the Greater Everett Community Foundation and Big Brothers Big Sisters of King and Pierce Counties. For the eleven years immediately prior to his nonprofit leadership experiences, he held several senior management positions with the Community Relations Department of The Boeing Company. He is a member of the Executive Alliance and the Northwest Development Officers Association. Dave is also currently a member of the Visiting Committee for the Executive Masters in Not-For-Profit Leadership Program at Seattle University. Dave serves on the Executive Committee, Board Development Committee, and Breakfast Committee.

William Hayden, 2nd Vice President
Bill is an attorney with Microsoft Corporation. He brings over 20 years of organizational leadership and management experience as a U.S. Navy officer, and with General Electric Company. He is also a former police officer who has dealt with domestic violence issues first hand. Bill has been involved in many volunteer activities over the years including: the Salvation Army Battered Women’s Shelter, mentoring U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps, teaching Junior Achievement, helping out at orphanages in South East Asia and fund raising for United Way. In 2000, he was honored by the Navy Reserve for his volunteer work providing legal aid to clients at the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans. Bill is Chair of this year’s Safe Passage Breakfast and also serves on the Executive Committee and Board Development Committee.  

Barbara Potter-Jaech, Treasurer
Barbara joined Laird Norton Tyee in 1988 and is Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Fiduciary Services. With over 28 years of experience in the trust and wealth management field, she oversees the firm’s client service teams and manages its largest trust relationships. Prior to joining the firm, Barbara was Assistant Vice President and Trust Officer at U.S. Bank of Washington. Barbara earned a degree in finance from Seattle City University and is a graduate of Pacific Coast Banking School. She is also a member of Estate Planning Council of Seattle and Institute of Certified Financial Planners. Barbara currently serves on the board of Medic One Foundation and is a member of the executive committee of the Estate Planning Council of Seattle. Barbara currently serves on the Breakfast and Finance Committees.

Kellie Kuhlman Anderson, Secretary
Kellie is currently Manager of Energy Resources Compliance at Puget Sound Energy and has worked in the utility industry for over 16 years. She brings a variety of customer service and organizational skills to her role as an EDVP board member. In addition she has been active in her community since graduating from the University of Washington in 1990. Over the years she has volunteered with Children’s Hospital, Catholic Community Services Youth Tutoring Program, Foss Home & Village, and now Eastside Domestic Violence Program. Kellie has been actively involved for many years with the Bowl-a-Thon and also serves on the Board Development Committee, the Executive Committee, and Breakfast Committee.

Susanne Baessler
Susanne is President of Baessler Consulting, Inc. a small firm specializing in helping teams turn their differences into assets. She has over 15 years of experience in working with teams from all over the world and at all levels. She brings in rich experience in marketing, strategic planning, team work and development and leadership coaching. Since 2001, Susanne has been working as a volunteer with the Crisis Management Team for victims of domestic violence with the Seattle Police. Susanne serves on the Board Development and Strategic Planning Committees along with the Breakfast Committee.

Joanne Baker
Joanne is an IT professional with Vulcan. She has volunteered for several social service agencies and projects including the Ronald McDonald House and Special Olympics, home-hospitalized tutoring, Big Buddies for At-Risk Kids and the University of Washington Committee Organizing Rape Education. She has also participated in Seattle Works' EXCEED program for board development, the King County Municipal League Candidate Evaluation Committee, and the Mountaineers Environmental Advocacy program. Joanne holds a business degree from the University of Washington in Accounting and Information Systems. Joanne is Chair of the Board Development Committee and also serves on the Bowl-a-Thon and Auction Committees.

Rachael Black
Rachael was with Boeing for over 30 years. She is also the past Director of the Community Day School Association, a non-profit. Rachael has her Masters in Executive Non Profit Management from Seattle University. She has a long history of accomplishments related to corporate fundraising and major donors. Rachael serves on the Board Development and Auction Committees.

Jeffrey Chen
Jeffrey Chen is the Chief of Police for the city of Medina Police Department and has been with Medina since June 2001. Previous to Medina, Jeff was with the Seattle Police Department for 13 years where he was a Sergeant working in patrol, training and investigations.  Jeff has a Masters of Public Administration degree from the University of Washington and also holds an undergraduate B.A. degree in Society and Justice from the University of Washington. Jeff is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy (FBI N/A) Session #223. Jeff has professional memberships with the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs (WASPC). Jeff is active in several community organizations including the Bellevue Rotary Club and Washington State Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Foundation. He has served as President, Vice President and Board Member for the Northwest Law Enforcement Association of Asian Pacific Islanders (NWLEAAP).  Jeff resides in Seattle with his wife and four children.

Candace Lee Denegal
Candace currently serves as the director of Business Continuity for Boeing Shared Services Group (SSG).  SSG provides other Boeing entities with innovative and effective common business services.  Candace was asked to take on this role in late 2005 to refine and execute a robust business continuity program for The Boeing Company.  This included the integration with Information Technology and Security and Fire Protections preparedness plans.  Previous to this assignment, Candace was vice president of SSC Employee and Human Resources Services.  She and her team were responsible for the delivery of all enterprise employee and human resources products and services, including recruiting, staffing, health benefits, payroll, and employee recognition.  Since joining Boeing in 1979, Candace has spent the majority of her career in procurement and purchasing, quickly advancing through series of positions of increasing responsibility, leading to her 2002 promotion to vice president of SSG Supplier Management & Procurement where she was responsible for the procurement of all indirect products and services for Boeing and leadership of the enterprise Supplier Diversity Program.  In 2003, Candace successfully completed a special assignment as vice president of the e-enabling initiative in Boeing Commercial Airplanes Supplier Management.  Candace has also served as vice president of Shared Services Business Solutions Services that included creative services functions and learning services.  A recognized leader, in 2001 she was named Purchasing Magazine’s “woman to watch in purchasing” and named to the Computerworld Honors Program for leadership in the use of information technology to benefit society.  Candace currently services on the board of Leadership Tommorrow, dedicated to developing informed and committed community leaders.  She is a 1976 graduate of the University of Montana, holding a bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology.  Outside of work she and her husband enjoy boating and spending time with their adult children.  Born in Eureka, Montana, Candace resides in Washington State.

Ray DiCasparro
Ray is the Director of Entertainment Strategy at Microsoft.  He has been at Microsoft for more than 14 years in various U.S. and international leadership roles. In a non-profit role, he associated with the following Boards: Life Center Northwest, ParentNet, and a founding member of both the National Kidney Foundation in Washington and the Living Legacy Foundation in the Pacific Northwest. Ray serves on the Resource Development, Breakfast, and Strategic Planning Committees.

TJ Ferrell
TJ Ferrell was born in Long Beach, California, but lived in multiple places in the United States as part of a military family. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis MD with a bachelor Science. After graduation TJ, served for 20 years as an officer in the United States Marine Corps as a pilot. After retirement from the Marine Corps, TJ joined The Boeing Company as a member of the company’s research and development branch, Phantom Works as a System Engineer. TJ has received a certificate of system engineering from the University of Missouri at Rolla and is currently enrolled in the System Engineering Master’s Degree program. TJ has been involved with the Boeing Employee’s Community Fund (ECF) for several years and is actively involved with the Christian Faith Center Church. TJ has been happily married to Lynn for over 17 years and they have two daughters, Sarah and Victoria.  

Karen Galipeau Forner
Karen Galipeau Forner is a Senior Attorney with AMS LAW.  Karen represents employers in the areas of workplace safety, workers compensation, and employment law.  She is a frequent presenter at continuing legal education seminars and to employer groups.  Prior to working at AMS LAW, Karen worked at the Washington State Attorney General’s Office for fourteen years, with a national leadership role in discrimination cases and training as well as litigating complex WISHA, Industrial Insurance, Third Party and Crime Victims Compensation Act cases.  In 1987 Karen received her Baccalaureate degree from Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington.  She received her Juris Doctorate in 1991 from the University of Washington School of Law, where she was also an Associate Editor for the Washington Law Review.  Karen is committed to the community.  She has served on the Board of Directors of EarthShare of Washington and the Board of Sound Mental Health and is an appointed member of the Washington State Bar Association’s Committee for diversity.

Gene Hensley
Gene Hensley joined EDVP in 2008. Gene is President of the WorldMark Board of Directors and retired as Chief Operating Officer of Wyndham Worldwide/Trendwest Resorts in 2006 after 17 years. He brings over 25 years of senior management in the hospitality industry. Trendwest redefined the Vacation Industry by developing Worldmark the Club for Trendwest in 1989 setting a new standard for customer satisfaction. Today with 300,000 owners and at 97% Worldmark held one of the highest customer satisfaction ratings in the Vacation Ownership Industry. Gene is also a member/partner of the LLC Emerald City Smoothies, a nutrition based smoothie company which has sold over 100 franchises in the US. Gene also serves on the Advisory Board for Habitat for Humanity and the Stewardship Committee for Child Care Resources. Gene will chair the 2009 Catch a Rising Star Dinner & Auction and serves on the Resource Development Committee.

Kimberle Jackson-Butler
Kimberle is the School Counselor/Coordinator for Families with Students of Color at The Bush School.  She is responsible for the social and emotional well being for students K-8th grade.  She has served on many committees at the Bush school including the Education Committee, Diversity Committee and the Strategic Planning Committee.  She brings to The Bush School the perspective of working privately as a therapist with families and children who have emotional issues as well as working with many divorce families and couples social dynamics.  Kimberle is also a Parent Board member for Holy Names Academy in Seattle.  She has served as a chair on many committees and received the Mary Hirsch Volunteer Award in 2005.  Kimberle currently serves on the Village Spirit Center Task Force for Catholic Communities Services.  She resides in Bellevue with her husband and two daughters.  Kimberle is passionate about her work and striving for safe places to raise and educate all children.

Wesley Moorhead
Wes is a General Manager in Microsoft’s Customer Service and Support organization and joined EDVP in May 2007. Wes is also a Fire Commissioner with Eastside Fire and Rescue and has extensive crisis intervention experience having served as a Chaplain with that agency prior to being elected as Commissioner. He is currently a member of the Board Development Committee. Wes is the Chair of the Board Development Committee and also serves on the Bowl-a-Thon and Strategic Planning Committees.

Brinette Rounds
Brinette is a native to the Pacific Northwest, growing up in Lakewood, Washington. She is a strong supporter of EDVP, having sponsored tables for the past two years at the annual Auction and having volunteered for the organization by picking up groceries for the safe houses.  EDVP is one of the organizations her family supports and through her Bellevue connections and business, legal, philanthropic, and financial skills and background she brings diverse structure and support to the Board of Directors. Brinette is a member of the Children’s Legacy Council of the Children’s Hospital Foundation, the YWCA Planned Giving Committee, and the Seattle Philanthropic Advisors Network.

Barbara Simonson
Barbara recently completed her third year term on the Windermere Foundation. A position she loves and where she became aware of EDVP and the important work they do in the community. The mission of the Windermere Foundation is to give back to the community. Their main focus is homeless women and children. The EDVP Hotel/Motel Voucher Program was a perfect fit to their mission and in the last three years the Windermere Foundation has granted $25,000 to this program. “It is my hope this will be an ongoing grant,” says Barbara. “I will continue to do everything I can to make this happen.” The grant funds come from closings and the personal contributions of agents and owners. “I grew up in a home where domestic violence was the norm; EDVP seems like a perfect place for me to contribute my time, energy and gifts.” Barbara has been in real estate for nearly 20 years. “Working with people, serving and giving is my business.” Barbara also serves on the board of Royal Family Kids Camp (RFKC), a one week summer camp for abused & neglected children in the foster care system.

Greg Smith
Greg is a broker with the Bellevue office of Grubb & Ellis, a commercial real estate firm.  Formerly a practicing attorney, and currently an Emeritus attorney with the Washington State Bar Association, Greg has been involved with a number of service and non-profit organizations over the past 25 years.  In addition to serving on the Safe Passage Breakfast Committee this past summer, Greg also serves as a volunteer attorney advising non-profit groups under the umbrella organization of WAACO (Washington Attorneys Assisting Community Organizations).  Previously, Greg had served as a board member and chapter coordinator of the Eastside chapter of CHADD (Children and Adults with/Attention Deficit and Hyper/Activity Disorders), and board member of the Triufo YMCA in Westlake Village, California. Greg serves on the Breakfast Committee.
